Counselling

What is counselling?

Pathways’ counselling service is known at Pathways to Wellbeing and was established over 20 years ago.

We have a team of part-time counsellors, working with people living in the Cummings Park, Mastrick, Middlefield, Northfield, Seaton, Tillydrone and Woodside areas of Aberdeen.

The counsellors provide counselling to anyone over the age of 16, with no upper age limit. The counselling can cover any topic which is affecting someone’s mental health,  enabling them to address their feelings and concerns, supporting them to achieve their potential and improve their quality of life by overcoming the issues and feelings.

There is normally a waiting list for the service, with people seen in waiting list order. The waiting list is normally not more than 2 months and is currently much shorter than this.

What is Counselling?
Everyday life can pose problems that can be hard to cope with. Counselling offers an opportunity to come and talk these through and resolve them where possible. Some of the issues which can be addressed through counselling include:

  • Anxiety of Stress
  • Bereavement or Loss
  • Depression
  • Illness
  • Low Self Esteem
  • Relationship & Personal Issues
  • Anything that causes you emotional distress

These are just some of the issues counselling can help with, if you are unsure about whether counselling can help you, call us on 682939 for more information.

What to Expect

Sessions are usually around one hour long. You may need just one session or a series of more in depth work and you can discuss and agree your requirements with your counsellor.
