Domestic Abuse Counselling

Pathways from Abuse

Domestic Abuse Counselling Service

Pathways from Abuse is a dedicated domestic abuse counselling service, which was established 8 years ago.

We have a team of 3 part-time domestic abuse counsellors, working with women across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

The counsellors will provide counselling to women who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse, enabling them to address their feelings and concerns arising from the abuse, supporting them to achieve their potential and improve their quality of life by overcoming the issues and feelings caused by the abuse they have experienced.

Women referred for counselling do not need to have left the perpetrator.

Counselling for women living in Aberdeenshire is normally delivered by telephone, but if women are able to travel into Aberdeen and wish to be seen face-to-face this is also available to them.

There is normally a waiting list for the service, with women seen in waiting list order. The waiting list is normally not more than 2 months and is currently much shorter than this.

What To Expect
Pathways From Abuse project offers 1-1 counselling to any woman who is or has experienced domestic abuse in Aberdeen City or Aberdeenshire.

The counselling can be face to face in Aberdeen City or by telephone or Skype to clients who are unable to travel into the city.

Pathways’ team of counsellors understand domestic abuse and how it destroys the self-esteem and confidence of its victims.

They understand the effects of being controlled and feeling that nothing you do is right and even believing it must be your own fault. They understand that not all abusive relationships involve physical violence and why domestic abuse is sometimes called Intimate Terrorism.

Our counsellors have many years of experience supporting women through all these issues and are here to help you.
